Field of Sunflowers

Written in 2023, this piece was one of the first I ever carried to completion. The months beforehand had forced me to confront death and life time and again, leaving me questioning where it all fits. In the end, a friend helped show me how resilient life can be, and how wonderful. “Even as sunflowers withers”, she said, “They’ll always come back around next summer, as sure as the rising sun.” No matter how cruel or painful living can be, it will still find a way to push through the cracks and blossom into something truely beautiful.
